TOP FILM FEMME FATALES – Part #2

6) Selene

Played by: Kate Beckinsale

Number of films: 3 (Underworld / Underworld: Evolution / Underworld: Awakening)

Weapon of Choice: Beretta 92FS handguns

Why She Kicks Ass: Selene is a latex and leather clad, death-dealing vampire whose hobbies include exterminating lycan and expertly flipping off of high ledges. This vamp goddess, with luminescent ice blue eyes and perfectly pale skin, has an inquisitive nature which gets her into several high-stakes situations her adroit warrior skills always get her out of. Her enemies can suck on that.

Synopsis: What’s a girl to do when faced with enemies on every side? If you’re Selene, a death-dealing vampire, you kill every lycan and vampire that stands in your way. Whether with sword or gun, Selene doesn’t stop until she finds out the truth about her past and exact deadly punishment on all guilty parties.

Favorite Quote: Well, we’ll have to work on that.

5) Lisbeth Salander

Played by: Noomi Rapace, Rooney Mara

Number of films: 4 (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (SW/US) / The Girl who Played with Fire / The Girl who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest)

Weapon of Choice: Taser C2 Personal Self-Defense Stun Gun

Why She Kicks Ass: Lisbeth Salander, 25, frail, tough, weird, is an original. She’s an antisocial mathematical genius, a brilliant hacker with a photographic memory, a vengeful killer and unforgiving moralist whose persona defies definition. Whether portrayed by Rapace or Mara, Lisbeth is in a class all her own.

She’s not plucky like Charlie’s Angels, precocious like Nancy Drew or adventurous like Lara Croft or Wonder Woman. She’s violent and gentle, a loner, cynical, sexual and frigid. A gothic Valkyrie for the new millennium sent to earth to show us the true meaning of a woman’s scorn.

Synopsis: Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past four years, you know that The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo is an adaptation of the Swedish novel by Stieg Larsson follows a disgraced journalist, Mikael Blomkvist, as he investigates the disappearance of a wealthy patriarch’s niece from 40 years ago. He is aided by the pierced, tattooed, punk computer hacker named Lisbeth Slander. As they work together in the investigation, Blomkvist and Salander uncover immense corruption beyond anything they have ever imagined.

Favorite Quote: Hold still. I’ve never done this before.

4) Trinity

Played by: Carrie-Anne Moss

Number of films: 3 (The Matrix / Matrix Reloaded / Matrix Revolutions)

Weapon of Choice: Glock 17, Beretta 84FS Cheetahs and various others.

Why She Kicks Ass: Few images are as seared into our brains as the leather/vinyl-clad Carrie-Anne Moss diving over rooftops and kicking asses en route to saving the world. She loves her man almost as she loves cracking virtual heads in gorgeous bullet-time.

Synopsis: Using her mind to take on a whole computer world filled with human-like programs that want to kill her and her friends, Trinity jumps off building, smashes through walls and doors, uses every form of martial arts, and shoots every kind of weapon, all in the name of freedom for her species and the love of a man.

Favorite Quote: Dodge this!

3) The Bride

Played by: Uma Thurman

Number of films: 2 (Kill Bill: Vol. 1 & 2)

Weapon of Choice: Hattori Hanzo custom-made samurai sword

Why She Kicks Ass: Guns? The Bride, don’t need no silly gun. She just needs a good blade and she’ll cut you something wicked. She’s got a thirst for vengeance the likes of which we’d never really seen before, cutting down everything and everyone in her path. Would  you want to try to cross her?

Synopsis: How could you not include a girl on a rampaging killing spree with a Hattori Hanzo samurai sword? That she dispatches more men in less time then all of our other selections on this list makes her a compulsory addition.

Favorite Quote: You and I have unfinished business.

2) Sarah Connor

Played by: Linda Hamilton

Number of films: 2 (The Terminator / Terminator 2: Judgment Day)

Weapon of Choice:  Colt AR-15 Sporter 1 Carbine / M-79 grenade launcher / Remington 870 Police Combat Rifle

Why She Kicks Ass: Linda Hamilton didn’t ask for our clothes, our boots, and our motorcycle, but we’d have given them to her if she had. She’s good with a nightstick or a gun. She’s faced her fears of Austrian super-robots and melty really super ones, and sure, it made her a little crazy. But she saved the goddamn world, and then when that got screwed up, she taught her kid to do it. Linda Hamilton was one of the baddest chicks we’ve ever seen on film.

Synopsis: What a difference a sequel makes! Sarah, through training, exercise and a focused hatred for a male dominated society, changes from a mild mannered waitress in The Terminator to a butt-kicking, face smashing, automatic rifle shooting, warrior for the world in Terminator II.

Favorite Quote: You’re terminated f*cker!

1) Lt. Ellen Ripley

Played by: Sigourney Weaver

Number of films: 4 (Alien / Aliens / Alien3 / Alien Resurrection)

Weapon of Choice: M41a Pulse Rifle / Powerloader

Why She Kicks Ass: There’s really no contest on this one. Sigourney Weaver’s Ripley fought off acid-bleeding aliens more times than we can count, sometimes with the help of a forklift-like exoskeleton, sometimes with the force of her scream alone.

Synopsis: There was no way an alien queen was going to harm her or her surrogate child Newt, Ellen Ripley learned how to use a machine gun, a flame-thrower, and how to make a front loader into a weapon, all in the course of two hours of film. With Ripley and Pvt. Vasquez (Jenette Goldstein), Aliens has two females that show off the new and improved version of the female sex. They started it all.

Favorite Quote: Get away from her, you b*tch!
